The new feature allows Hotels to include posts in their Google Business listings.
Google Posts have been available for years for other businesses, helping in providing better search results for customers. In addition, posts have enabled more dynamic and exciting Google Business profiles, resulting in more traffic to websites.
This feature allows local businesses to regularly share announcements, news, offers, or events directly on their GMB-profile. Posts can include texts, photos, and videos as well as direction buttons with calls to action such as “buy,” “book online,” “learn more,” “call,” or “visit.”
The post feature has not been available for Hotels on Google searches until now. Available features have included Services, Hotel attributes, Photos, reviews, Opening Dates and hours, and Messages. In addition, the features that have required more regular monitoring and updating - Photos, Hours, and Reviews, are now finally accompanied by Posts.
The new feature allows hotels to create local posts to provide relevant, timely information to customers. However, the feature is somewhat more limited for Hotels than other businesses. Google states that this feature can be used to share news about COVID-19 protocols, updates to reservations or amenities, and events that take place at the locations. In addition, hotels are not allowed to create “offer” posts or other posts linked to promotions, special offers, or discounts. According to Google, this will ensure that customers won’t get confused about where to navigate on the Hotel place sheet to find organic and ad prices from partners.
For now, the feature only allows informational posts, but for Hotels and Hospitality services, this is exciting news. This feature has been longed for since the launch of Posts in 2016. Hotels can now keep their customers up-to-date and informed on a whole new level.
